Psychology Department

The Department of Psychology of Kumaun University at S.S.J. Campus, Almora came into existence in 1980. In the beginning only undergraduate course was offered by the department but in the session 1986-1987 post-graduate courses was introduced in the department and it was upgraded to a P.G. Department. Consequently research activities were also introduced in the department. In order to make the university education system apparently pertinent to the developing demands of rapidly changing socio-economic scenario of the nation, the department offers P.G. Diploma in Guidance and Counseling in self-finance mode. The department has introduced semester system in its post graduate courses from the academic session 2010-2011. The department has organized four seminars and one refresher programme. The teachers of the department have published research papers in various journals of National and International repute and participated in different National and International seminars/ Conferences. The department also provides guidance and counseling to persons facing behavioural problems and special guest lectures to students for overall development of personality.
